Nat Read served as a Reserve Officer with the Los Angeles Police Department for five years during which he worked patrol in Northeast, 77th and Southeast Divisions, foot beats in Central Division  (Downtown Los Angeles), vice in Hollywood and gang suppression details in South Bureau.
